Can comebody give me a little info on pre amp tubes. I noticed thet start with the same # but end with different ones , some are higher dain it seems or maybe its just the brands. I have swaped a few here and there and notice tone differences. I have a peavey classic 30 ( cool amp ) and would like to try and get more treble or tone out of the boost channel.
any help would be great :) :puh :)

I would look on line because the different endings, i.e. ay7, at7, ax7 all have different amplification factors. In regards to getting more treble and definition out of your C30 instead of tubes I would highly suggest getting a Eminence Wizard speaker to replace the stock speaker. The Wizard is more effiecent, has more bass and more definition. To top it off it kicks ass with distortion, it might be the best roak speaker I have heard from the Eminence stuff. A speaker change will have much more impact then changing tubes.

Unless you don't have a Mullard in the V! slot. My friend,(a bonified tube skeptic), put one in and he is dumbfounded about the overall tone improvement.
Speaker switching is well documented for the c-30 so I imagine Harrys suggestion,(unless he is under the influences of an Italian Beef sandwich),is probably on spot.
