View Full Version : Should my Traynor ycv40 do this??

I have an early-model Traynor ycv40. In the last six months I had the speaker replaced with an Eminence Texas Heat and it was re-valved about two months ago. It's had about 4 or 5 playing sessions since re-valving (about 3 hrs per go). I never run it above 4, I run a tubescreamer type pedal into it for leads and I use relatively low-output guitars (tele, Reverend). However, I've noticed recently that even with the tele and no drive, it breaks up when strummed hard above 2 on the volume. The sound acquires a sort of flabby quality. Does this sound like valves, speaker or something else?

Cheers

If you have another set of tubes try swapping them. Start with the pre-amp tubes and replace one at a time, then try the power tubes.

If that doesn't help then you will probably need to contact Traynor.
