Well after owning my 1970 Super Reverb for a couple of years now I just thought of something...what impedance extension speaker cab can be plugged into the ext jack? It operates at 2 ohms now. How low can you go?:o Thanks

...one (1) each 4-ohm or higher load is OK.

Thanks. What would be the highest impedance cab that I could run out of just the Main speaker jack? Could I run a 4,8 or 16 ohm?

Years ago, before I knew better, I ran a Marshall 4x12 cab off the extension speaker out in a 1965 Super Reverb and had problems. That Marshall cab was a 16 ohm load.

How low can you go?:You want the total load to be between 1 ohm and 4 ohms (half to double the matching impedance).

That means that you can connect any cab of 2 ohms or greater as the Extension when the combo speakers are plugged into the Main, or a 1, 2, or 4-ohm cab connected to the Main alone.

That Marshall cab was a 16 ohm load.If you had problems with a 16-ohm cab connected as well as the combo speakers, it wasn't due to the cab - the difference between the normal 2-ohm load and the combined 2+16 (1.8-ohm total) load is insignificant. If you connected just the 16-ohm cab, that would certainly cause trouble.

...my response is based upon Fender's reply to my question back in 1965 when I asked what ext. spkr. can be used with my then new '65 SR...

...maybe their "4-ohm load" reply was simply to "coincide" with existing speaker cabinets, but it was indeed 4-ohms and not 2-ohms.
