Hi guys and gals!

I just picked up a new Victoria 45410 that came with a 5AR4 rectifier. Can I swap that out with a 5U4GB? Or 5Y3? Or SS?

Also, there was a ringing (I've heard this before in other amps) in a preamp tube. I rotated them and it helped a lot. Does the position of a (microphonic) tube make a difference, or will any microphonic tube creat that noise despite it's location?

Don't want to do anything to hurt this gem!

TIA!

Yes, moving a microphonic preamp tube can help. Some sockets are much more sensitive to microphonic tubes than others. PI sockets rarely care if you use a micro tube in them.

Contact Victoria amps to be sure, as no one knows their amps better than they do.

Thank you! I did not know you needed to rebias the tubes when switching rectifiers! You save me lots of hassle and expense!

I love this "place"!
