Anyone ever played one of these? Or, can anyone comment on a mini-hum in the neck position of a Tele.

Here's Fender's description:

"Great classic features include vintage styling, a custom vintage Tele® bridge pickup and a thin-skin nitrocellulose lacquer finish; modern features include a Seymour Duncan® Vintage Mini HB humbucking neck pickup and a satin-backed neck with a flatter radius and medium-jumbo frets. Looks, sounds and feel both vintage and brand-new at the same time!"

Thanks. Art

EDIT: Sorry - I meant to put this under Guitars In General. I Know, Fender is NOT a small company Luthier.

art, i have one of these at my store and its one of the better teles ive played in a LOOOOOONG time....i dont know what you need in this guitar after i played your USACG tele w/ the fralins though...

the mini-hum is great, id like to put on in the neck of my tele, but i cant stop spending money on other stoopid stuff...and i cant find a bakelight guard w/ a mini-hum cutout!

Fender is really putting out some great guitars again.
I'm sure there is still variances in quality from guitar to guitar but the last couple I have tried have been exceptional. With prices that are super fair for what your getting.

Hey Pete -

Yeah, I have to agree. . . the USACG Hollow Spruce over Ash T is kind of extraordinary.

However, there's always room for one more Tele.

BTW, you can get a pickguard with mini-hum cut-out from Warmouth.

See you at BES.

+1. My Fender "Thin Skin" '52 RI Telecaster (with Lollar pickups) is a fantastic guitar and has been well tested now in both the live and studio environments. It sounds amazing, plays perfect.

I suppose there might be Boutique Telecasters out there that might technically be "better", but I don't see the point in buying something for a 1000+ dollars more when the Tele I've got sounds and plays exactly the way I want it to.

If I had a bunch of extra $$$ I could see buying a bunch of Boutique instruments for the fun of it, but as a working Pro it doesn't seem to be a neccessity

Well. . . I just popped for a Vintage '52 Hot Rod Tele on eBay.

I'll write a quick comparative when it arrives.

Hmmm, Teles. . .

Grosh T with P92 in neck
Lentz T (orignal design)
Lentz T Hybrid (new design with P90 in neck)
Fender Chambered Spruce top over Ash Tele with DeTemple pups
McInturff TerryCaster (really hybrid T)
Suhr Chambered Mahogany T with 2 Lollar P90s
USACG T with Lollar pups
USACG Hollow Spruce over Ash T with P92s.

As I said above, there's always room for one more Tele. :jo

I figured someone would notice. That's why I edited the original post with a correctional disclaimer. :AOK
