Anyone help me out with tonal properties ?
Anything closer to an upright tone ?
I love the look of the Tobias designed Lakland hollow body .
If you check out the bonus DVD on Dylans` new Cd .Tony Garnier is getting a monster bottom out of that Lakland ..
Is that something indicative of a hollow body ? Kind of like extra bottom or maybe low mids ?
Would that be only amp(feedback) related or would a direct sound do that too ?

I gotta get my bass player some thicker legs !

I used to have a 68 EB-2.

Not even close to upright tone- it was a mellow, low middy sound. It played really awesome, but it didn't do anything close to what I wanted tonally.

I've got a US lakland hollowbody. It has that lower midrange thump which is indicative of a hollow instrument, even direct. A good set of flatwound strings really accentuates the effect, too.
