Where did you find those Seymour Duncan heads?

The Duncan heads were just "around." They're both the 300x300w model, although I'd like to try out a 400x400w model. I got my first one at my favorite store- it's been worked over, but it sounds awesome. The other one was at another store. It's been a long time, but I think I got my first one for $150 or something and the 'stock' one for $200. No one knows about these things- not even Duncan. I think of them as a "better" take on the GK800RB.

I never can get my pics to size right. Here is a link to my bass gear (http://www.plaidfaction.com/images/Gear/100_0580.jpg)

Picture is kinda fuzzy. 4 string was built by a local builder, 5 string is my old old Warwick. Amp is the discontinued Ampeg PortaBass250 2x10 combo. I usually run a Bass Driver DI with it as well to tube it up a little.

Here is my Current Bass Rig Its the SVT 3 Pro Head and the HLF 4X10 Cab. Its a couple of years old so its Pre the recent buyout. I really like this as a Bass Rig. Its lighter than my old Bass 400 PLus rig and has plenty os arse.

The Bass is a Japan Mader 53 reissue.

Red Planet,

I get quite a few comments about the unit, (Doesn't help that it has an 80 glam color scheme) but truth be told, I haven't found anything that can replace it. It can be really transparent, and I love the compressor program I've set up in it. I just wish it had a decent overdrive to it. Every other processor I've tried since hurts my tone too much just having it in the loop. I'm thinking about trying to track down a spare to have "just in case".

Priapism, That is a georgouse hunk of wood ya got there.

Yes, that's correct. '70's I'm guessing. I actually got it free. A bassist friend of mine left it at my house years ago and subseqently got a newer combo and had no room for his old rig. I tried to return it but he said just to keep it. I rarely use the head, right now it needs some repairs. I do use the cab from time to time.

Iirc Woodson had some sort of relationship to/with Kustom and possibly also Earth amps.

Here is my set up for our outdoor concert this past summer.
1964 Bassman, 1967 Dual Showman, 1968 Bandmaster through a 2X15 with 50watt Jensens, and a custom 2X12/1X15 with Eminences and another Jensen all daisychained with a 1968 Gibson EBO driving them. I've been keeping this one a secret, and it deserves, and will receive, it's own thread, but I came upon this incredible find, one of three or so prototypes of the Ampeg B15N, with the jewel light instead of the plexi logo. One of the prototypes was featured in Vintage Guitar (with Joe Bonamassa on the cover) and mine has been verified by Jess Oliver, the designer of the amp. So, without further ado, my baby:

After some advice from some members here I managed to pick up this rig today from seperate sales on craigslist in Detroit....
My Bass player comes over Sunday for band rehersal...I can't wait to see the
look on his face...
Mesa 400 ,Furman,Calzone case,on a powerhouse 6 x 10" w horn roadready.
I played around with it for 5 minutes, went upstairs and found pictures that were on tables ,,,lying face down on the floor....

Yeah it's Loud....who needs a 400 plus???

ITs 4 KT88's about 225 watts, and just sounds big, and warm. Tubes are good

I'm sure there's some long, technical answer but I'll ask anyway. How is it tube bass amps have so much more wattage out of the same tubes compared to guitar amps? For instance, my VHT Ultra-Lead runs 4 KT-88's at 120 watts, the Reinhardt bass head above is running the same power tubes at about 225 watts.

Man, you look like a Mesa ad, in a good way. :AOK

I'd be interested in comparing our 2 6/10's to hear tonal differences. Bet yours sounds damn big as well!

Haa that's funny you can't see the next half stack next to the Nomad, its an oversized recto 4 x 12 with V30's and soon to be a Mesa stilleto head when I find a nice one,,there was a dual rect head on it but I sold it..
This side of the studio is the mesa grounds...

Actually I did notice it. I had a Recto cab once so I was pretty sure I saw the edge of one peeking out. Like your pic, you can just see my guitar rig peeking. To the left of my Genz Benz rig is my VHT 1/2 stack.

I dont know anything about the VHT, but for my Bass head, its partly the huge OT, partly the fact it runs high plate voltage, and also the fact that its pretty clean up until you get it wound up, and ratings are usually done with a clean signal.

I'd try http://www.fliptops.net (http://www.fliptops.net/), they have 60's and 70's style grill cloth there.
