I'm looking for something in the $1500-$1700 range (used).

I'd like a built-in pickup and cutaway, probably rosewood back and sides but am open to other suggestions. I had a larrivee LV-9CE for a while but was not that impressed with it.

Jack,if I could find someone to buy my '59 Martin for what it's worth,I would sell it and buy a Taylor 514CE with the old Fishman system in it.The sonic qualities are those of a much more expensive guitar, and they are easy on the eyes.Mahoghany sides, back, neck and cedar top.Right in your price range...They also make a rosewood model but,to my ear it does not sound anywhere near as balanced.

I currently have a Taylor 410CE for sale on a certain e-bidding site. Price is under a grand right now, which is a steal for one of the best guitars I've ever played. I'm only selling it to get a 415, because a jumbo suits my playing better.

Honestly, I've compared the 410CE to dozens of guitars $2000 and up, and this beats every single one of them. Fantastic ovangkol back and sides, which sounds like rosewood with a bit more high-end shimmer. It also has the Taylor expression system, which is amazing.

OK, it's over the price you listed, but this will be for sale soon - Collings OM2H cutaway. Drilled for an endpin jack. email me if you have any questions. This is a stunning sounding OM, I just can't get used to the smaller size.

jgm - Can you send me some pix directly? I can't access photobucket from work.

To others, can someone educate me on the differences between the taylor 400,500, 600. 700 and 800 series other than the back/sides woods?

I've found that aside from wood type/quality, the differences are mostly cosmetic in these lines.

100-200 taylors: satin finishes, plastic everywhere. great bracing, good tone, NT neck reset in a matter of a few minutes rather than steaming a dovetail.

300-400: glossy tops satin b/s. sapele and ovangkol.

500-up: gloss everywhere. florentine cutaways available. 900s have bone nuts and saddles and gotoh 510 tuners. higher series may also have them.not sure.

i believe all 300-PS have the relief cuts on the edge of the tops.

Taylor has refined their line recently. With the success of the GS they've restructured around it. I believe the GS to be the flagship model for taylor guitars now since it was spawned from the R. Taylor line of guitars. It's slightly bigger than a GA.

Inlays are different from series to series. ES is standard on all acoustic electric models. You have the option of deleting the ES and putting in your own p/u. you may actually save a little money. there are lots of questions about their models but i can say after playing a GA5 (think 514ce without the cutaway and electronics) I can say they are making some wonderful guitars. My next one will be a custom Cedar Mahogany Florentine GS short scale 1 11/16 and gotoh tuners :)

Which one is yours and do you have a TGP buy-now price in mind?

How can I make you an offer if you've already sold it?

How can I make you an offer if you've already sold it? If for some reason things don't work out with this buyer (payment hasn't come through yet) I'll shoot you an e-mail.

the mostly was supposed to be replaced by purely. Other than wood choices, and cosmetics, there are no differences from 4-800s. It's all cosmetic. The quality is the same. Ira broke it down.

I saw that they are naming things a little differently now, making a GA series, while still offering X14 models. Doesn't really make sense to me yet.
