I put a humbucker in the neck position of my Tele. I used the Seymour Duncan websites's wiring diagram for this configuration. In the middle position ONLY the sound is weak and nasally, perhaps out-of-phase.
Is there anyway to change this?

That does sound like a phase problem.

What type of humbucker? Single-core shielded wire or 4-conductor? If it's 4-conductor, swap the green and black wires (on a Duncan pickup, others vary).

If it's single-core+shield, what type of Tele? Does the bridge pickup have a baseplate, or is the ground wire to the bridge connected separately? If there's no baseplate, you can swap the wires to the bridge pickup instead. If it does have a baseplate, you need to do this and move the link from the baseplate to the other eyelet on the pickup itself.

Or, you could flip the magnet on the humbucker - which means loosening off the screws on the bottom of it and sliding the magnet out - turning it so the long edges are reversed - obviously only easy if the pickup doesn't have a cover.

It's a 4 conductor..I 'll try swapping the black and the green

the swap corrected the phase problem. However, the humbucker all by itself sounds muffled (as it did before the swap)

They usually do, in comparison to a Tele bridge pickup.

What pickup is it? What value volume pot does it have?

There's a reason the original and classic Tele sound did not incorporate the use of the humbucker. MUD! The neck p/up on the Tele is a favorite sound of mine and if I was going to change it a P-90 would have been a better choice, IMO.

Yes. Compared to my original Tele (I have 2), the one with the humbucker doesn't even come close....

The pots are 250's

Try a 500k audio taper volume pot and use a resistor like 300k, or so for the bridge pickup to "see" 250k at the pot.
