Is it possible to do this ?

Sure. The Callaham measurements are the same as vintage Fender specs.

But the question I see is, why would you?

Well, wouldn't the Graph tech saddles be more "lubed" than the metal ones from callaham ?

I think he's asking because Callaham caters to the vintage cork-sniffer crowd (no offense meant; I hope to be able to afford to be a vintage cork-sniffer someday!)

People pay a lot of money for those Callaham bent-steel saddles so why replace them?

I use a drop of that graphite machine oil (like Lock-Ease (http://www.amazon.com/Lock-Ease-Graphite-Lock-Fluid-3-4/dp/B0006MWPZA)) on each saddle on all my guitars and I'm very happy.

Exactly. They seem to go to great lengths to make everything a certain way to get "that sound". Graphite is really soft, so in theory it dampens the tone and isn't really "that sound" anymore.

Lubing the saddles makes a lot of sense. Don't know why I haven't tried that.

If you break strings at the saddle, there may be a burr in the metal that can be filed off.

So for tuning stability or string breakage, I don't think it's a good idea to jump right to GraphTech. Unless you just like them of course. :)

why don't you just proove it to yourself. a set of graphtech saddles only costs about $30-$35. You can try it and if you don't like it you can always change back. You could probably sell the saddles on TGP for about $20 so not much to loose and it is very simple to reverse. I think you may like the tone but you won't know unless you try it.

It is kind of like the acoustic people go to great lengths to buy different types of bridge pins to get "that" tone. Well I have tried it and honestly it doesn't do much for me. But if it makes others happy fine.

The callaham saddles are good as they are. Stick with them.:nono

As regards the graph tech I would recommend trying them on something as they will surprise you as to how bright they are ( similar in tone to steel):AOK
