I'm looking at this 62 REISSUE USA WITH a JAY RETRO PRE AMP, what is the JAY RETRO PRE AMP and what does it do?

Does that mean this is active the knobs look different?

The J-Retro is an onboard preamp that takes the signal from the pickups and acts as an active bass would. The system is the control plate- so you would take out the control plate, unsolder the wires to the pickup, and resolder the pickup leads onto the new pots.

He's got the original electronics so you can always put it back if you don't like it. I actually like active p'ups in a Jazz. The unit is sellig for almost $300, so you might be able to sell it and make some money back. At even 1/2 the cost new you'd have a cool 62RI Jazz for $95 if you Buy It Now.
