- I have heard that you can clip the bright cap on channel 2. If you do that, will channel 2 sound exactly like channel 1?

- Can you put reverb on channel 1 easily?

- Has anyone done the mid mod? Is it a much better sound?

- Would a Weber alnico speaker sound better than the stock speaker? It seems alnico sound nicer than ceramics and if anything will breakup first, it will be the power amp and not the speaker.

What's the stock speaker? Even a Weber ceramic will sound better than a lot of stock Fender speakers (especially if from the '70s

What do you think changing the cathode caps on V1 & V2 from 25uf to 47uf would do to the warmth of the sound?

Might be too much of a good thing but it's easy to try. The bass may become "woofy".

Typically, these amps are already too warm if anything and often need some brightening up. You'd probably do better playing with tone or coupling caps than cathode caps.

You probably mean 4.7uf, which is a common change to reduce the bottom end as those amps tend to be dark already. At 25uf the bottom end gain is already beyond the capability of guitar speakers. Going to 47uf would add no improvement.

Takes bottom away, but warmth and bottom end aren't synonomous. The amp will still be plenty warm.

No the channel with reverb has an extra gain stage to drive the reverb.

There is a mod to put reverb on both channels, why do you need this?

Mid mods usually add mids, but you can also reduce mids. Keep in mind this mod entails changing the overall gain of the tone circuit, which in my opinion gives you more (or less) of everything. What are you trying to do?

Speakers, IMHO, have a great deal to do with the sound of the amp.

What are you trying to accomplish? More highs, lows, more/less break-up? Ted Weber will make excellent recommnedations, send him an email
