I feel like playing a little bass and want a bang for the buck Fender to do popping and slapping on....... What do you reccomend?

Fender Highway One Jazz Bass or a Geddy Lee Sig. Got the Badass bridge to get you going on the slapping already. That, or a G&L Tribute L2000.

If you are serious about popping and slapping I would look at a Musicman Stingray (or their active Sub derivative). Still a Leo design.

I recommend the Jay Turser JTB-4X. I've owned P-bass copies, a Steinberger X4, and an Ibanez GSR200. This is by far the most comfortable and best sounding budget bass I've owned. Active tone controls and you can see the wood grain (no plywood here). And for $260 driveout, it's hard to beat!

Check out this link, but you can Google it and find it all over the place:

for popping and slapping, the Fender Hwy1, or other MIA jazz, a Musicman Ray or Sterling, maple necked ideally..

or the Fender slap monster, the Marcus Miller sig, MIJ.

Lakland Darryl Jones if you like the string spacing...

I was looking at that the other day. Looks like a sweet bass!
