It's on the bench now, disassembled, and will be at it's best tomorrow. It sounded pretty darn good for the 30 seconds I played it. Appears absolutely untouched. http://cityguitar.smugmug.com/photos/156273806-L-2.jpghttp://cityguitar.smugmug.com/photos/156246553-L.jpg

I dreaded opening this thread because I knew, JUST KNEW, I'd see exactly THAT AMP (or another equally beautiful Fender) . . .

Argh! -I'm gassing for Fenders right nfow . . . I need a doctor! Or a decent job!

Great score . . . . don't tell me you actually paid $100-?!?!

that is so nice! the stuff we get around here tends to be crap solid state, and beat on. I have only ever once seen a (working) tube amp at a local garage sale and it was an Airline.

These are always my exact sentiments. However, I don't think I've ever bothered with a garage sale, so...

The thing that gets me is...$100.00!!!???!!?!?

Dear lord.........

It's aged perfectly. What a great find.

Congrats!

Stayed up late disassembling, cleaning, & routine maintenence. It is literally untouched. It may benefit from a more extensive service, but it sounds perfect as it sits. It's quiet, everything works perfectly, and it RIPS on 10!!! Has some nice Mullards in it too. Now all I need is the perfect boost pedal so I can play at lower volumes.

Thats the $200.00 question!
You saved that Princeton. It was languishing under someones canning jars and you gave it the love it deserved.

Even better than that $500 plexi that was scored near Toronto - that needed some extensive work IIRC

Nope. Personally, I'd keep your electronically pristine amp intact. Just my 2 cents. Nice score, btw. I think I'm going garage saling today :D

You might at least have put the back panel back on the right way up :).

I know it's cool to find an amp as original as this, but please think of your own safety and install a 3-wire cord, even if you don't want to replace the electrolytics.

Thanks, panel is now on properly {Duh}, and a three prong cord is in its future. You might at least have put the back panel back on the right way up :).

Ok, NOW your just being hateful, rubbing it in like that.

All I ever see at garage sales is crap I wouldn't have played with when I was a kid!

Congrats (dirt bag!) :BOUNCE

I did just get a BadCat Panther R 1x12 combo is screaming read. It wasn't at a yard sale though, and it was a bit more than a C note!

Major find, reinforces the old saying, "if you don't stop, you don't know", it's always a battle of time versus laziness on my part. This reminds me to stop.

1964 Blackface Fender Vibrolux Reverb in all-original condition for $50. Yes, that was $50, not $500. I'll start a thread about that when I take some pictures this week.

Congrats! I have a band member, here in Cincy, that has had his Princeton Reverb silver face since new. He never plays it but does play others. He treats it like a shrine. It has never been redone and therefore is as new. The grill cloth has not even yellowed.

Not to steal your thunder but here is one of mine reprinted from another thread:
"64" Epiphone solid body. A Corina maybe?? It was neck-thru glued w/one single coil. It came with the tube amp, w/10" speaker and 15 watts, as a package deal at the time. I bought both as an elderly Grandma was clearing it out of the closet. She said that they had bought it new and the son played it for two months and lost interest. It sat in the closet ever since. I paid her the asking price of $265.00 in 1999. I sold the guitar in 2003 (as new condition w/not a mark on anything) for $995 and the amp (same person and condition) for $500. Iv'e been cryin ever since. It weighed next to nothing with increditably close action. The guitar played itself. Im sooo stupid sometimes.

Good score...

I have a buddy that does auctions. He got a call from a lady whose husband had passed. She wanted to sell one of his dobros. It turned out to be a 1929 National Tricone with the square neck.

He didn't know what he had.... He paid $250 for it. It is worth close to 10k!

That stuff always amazes me...
