Warning! If you have your 80 pound bass amp head mounted inside a case like this SKB rackmount case WITHOUT rubber feet and you place it on top of a huge 2x15 cab, After about a half hour of playing it will vibrate forward and plummet over the edge like niagra falls and and land face first and kill the amp. I saw it happen yesterday.:mad::mad::jo:jo:jo:jo:jo

A few years ago there were a bunch of pics on TB about someone's amp that had taken a nosedive off the cab- the entire faceplate was twisted.

I've seen a Mesa 400+ go off the back of a cab...

My SKB does have rubber feet- I still don't totally trust it, as the top of the cab is not as deep as the rack. It's more stable on the other cabs.

If you want to get into the correctness issue of it- you really shouldn't be setting your head on your cab- like it's a good idea for all those electronics to be bounced around on top of a cab pushing out 40hz thumpin...

My old Trace Elliot MkV AH150 vibrated itself off the top of a tall cab. Bounced and kept right on playing. It popped the XLR DI jack off the front panel by breaking the rivets, but didn't stop it (or the DI signal) working. Two small nuts and bolts the next day in place of the rivets, and it was as good as before.

Some amps are built better than others.
