Reading a lot on The G-Units by TC Electronics. That meaning like the G-system, major, force, etc.

Pretty keen on a G-system and say 3 drive/dist units and my wah. Whats the different between the three units, apart from the System being a floor unit. Is the Force better? I don't think i'm pro enough to have a rack unit and it'd be just too troublesome carrying it here and there.

The G-system seems really sweet, but I'm finding it hard to choose 4 'analog' pedals to stick in, that said i AM getting a crazy Multi FX unit so i shouldnt need that many, but it's just hard having to think of parting with my pedals. :S But it's just so versatile and i like having the option of preprogramming a million delays as opposed to limiting myself to 5 on my DD20.

Ben,

The g system is awesome. The effects sound amazing and the switching and routing work exactly as it should. I have 3 pedals I can't live without in the loops and I control amp channels with it. It is really all that it says it is.

I just sold almost all of my old pedals on ebay and I am really much happier. My rig is smaller and better sounding then even the most boutique stuff i had before.

The only drawback, as with anything like this is the lack of knobs, but once you get to know the unit you can edit a preset pretty quickly. Not as quick as with knobs, but quick enough.

I just made the switch this month and I am sorry I waited so long.

How do you edit different effects? Say for example a chorus. If you have the chorus set, how do you set rate and depth? Do you gotta scroll and press up and down? OR how?

Also, how does it work directly into a mixer? I know there's no amp sim, but some pedals work alright.

Most effects parameters are 2 or 3 buttons in. So if you want to edit delay time for example. You hit the edit button, the delay button and then turn the knobs to adjust. Sometimes you may have a 3rd button to push.

As far as going direct, the G system won't be your problem. It's effects will sound great direct. The problem is the OD and distortion effects, that come from the loops in the G system or any where for that matter. Most of those types of effects sound bad direct imo, and that has nothing to do with the G system.

If you find ones you like direct, the G system will pass them on just as you hear them now.

So do the buttons acts as knobs as well or something. A little bit confused, sorry.

Just wondering in terms of effects usage.
I see theres one button for filter, mod, delay, ect. For each preset can you only have one effect from each category. I know i probably wouldnt use like two mods at the same time, but just something i'm interested in knowing.

Some of the buttons are knobs too, not all but enough to make editing easy enough.

You can use one effect from each group per preset. FYI though, you can assign expression pedals to any effect parameter.

Also, you can also re-assign the buttons. For example if you want the boost button to switch amp channels you can tell it to do that either globally or per patch.

Yep. Thanks for clearing that up with me.
That's pretty cool that some of the buttons are knobs. Ingenious! Okay. Will definately aim for it soon.No cheap though :(
