About a year ago I got really into distorted, fuzzy bass. My band is a three piece so having that extra growl on the lows and low mids fills out the mix so much!! Bands like Muse, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine, I can't get enough of the fuzz bass and what it does for a power trio.
At Namm this year I got hooked up with the people at Orange Amplification. Great group of guys! At first I was checking out the Tiny Terror but ended up playing a P-Bass through their new 200 watt Thunderverb (6550s) and one of their 4x12s. I thought it was incredible. Here's a recent clip I did with my Thunderverb. I plan to use this thing at all different levels of distortion all over my next record. Love it!

p.s. I just received the Tiny Terror. Great little crunchy amp and sounds especially good with my Suhr Classic.

Yes Sir,
With an Evidence Audio cable between my J bass and the amp input. I used an old marshall 4x12 loaded with Eminence Governors. Love 12's for Bass! 57 in to ProTools.

Very cool Nick. I love fuzz bass. Two of my favorite pedals for bass are the Mesa/Boogie V-twin and the Prescription, Experience. Big fun.

Yea, fuzzy bass sounds rock! That's a very good tone, although I usually prefer a bit deeper or darker tone. But I'm not a bassist after all..
What kind of settings did you use for that clip? I was wondering if the TV200 can do any clean sounds when used with bass.
I have an old Orange OR120, which works very well as a bass amp too. It doesn't do a loud, pristine clean sound, but that's not a big problem to me or bassists I've played with.
Does some sort of a fuzzy sound too, when turned past about 3 O'clock on the gain dial- it has no master volume.

I'm sorry I don't like it much-thru my crappy spkrs here anyway!- I like a bit more bass in there. Like what I get outta blending my 2 channels on my 300PRO or when I add my Big Muff-even then I have more bass in- Just IMHO of course.
I'd heard the Thunderverb was a bit too fuzzy for most bassists at a LOUD vol. anyway! I guess U just proved it for me anyway!
I'll keep my 300PRO & V4BH! Thanx for the clip tho sounded good & fuzzy!

Cool clips. Run that next to a cleaner bass rig and it'd be huge.
I did something similar using a Dual Rectifier into a 4x12 in the past. It was pretty cool... the tone would put most 7 stringers to shame.
Great clip (had to listen to twice because it made me smile).
Love fuzz bass - dig the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge to get me there.
Congrats on the new rig!
Cheers,
Edward

I played a Rick bass into one, sounded exactly like Lemmy when I saw Motorhead, despite the fact he uses Marshalls, awesome amp with either guitar or bass.

Great clip!
I love all sorts of Fuzz/Distortion/OD for bass. I take a difrerent approach though, using pedals. I build from my clean tone and go from there, but some pedals don't like an active bass (the ZVex Wollly Mammoth, for one).
I use a Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz, MXR M-80 (to be replaced by a Blowtorch sometime), A blue and Grey Sovtek Big Muff and will be adding a Prunes and Custard soon.
They each have a tasy unique sound.
