Saw one in a local store at lunch hour, did not have time to try it, looks interesting. Anybody try one? Thought?
I kind of like the idea of a p90 neck and HB bridge pups on a Les Paul.
Weird finish.

I tried a prototype down at the Gibson AR shop in Nashville. There's one that seems to be loaned out on a regular basis. Very, very light and resonant, excellent playability and tone. Really funky look though....it's beyond relic. It's like someone sprayed an uncompleted body. But tone, yeah, it's got it.

i like the p/up configuration. but the finish is a deal breaker for me. there is just something fundamentally unsavory about distressed finishes. every dent, check and gouge in a guitar's finish tells that guitar's story. you can't add that at the factory. to me, the whole thing just smacks of acid washed denim. alas, i've never been rewarded for my good taste, so i bet they'll sell a ton of 'em.

I have to laugh at the fact that Gibson makes an unfinished guitar with missing hardware and actually tries to sell it like it's a good thing. Seriously, when you put it on paper, you'd hope that it was a joke. Whether the tone is there or not, there are a lot better pauls on the market for the price.

I dared myself to actually play one of the damned things a month ago. Raunchy feel (not in a good way), mediocre fretboard, etc... Sounded like any hunk o' wood with a humbucker in the bridge. I actually felt violated as a player that someone would have the nerve to sell this kind of crap to me. You look at MIK Epiphone guitars and there is a reason for some inferior parts, but overall, you have a decent finished instrument geared toward the working musician. I wish Gibson would do something with either quality or price that would turn me back toward them.

I picked one up and looked at it about a month ago at a music store. Rough is putting it mildly. I would rather have an Epiphone. There is no way I would spend almost $1000 on one of these.

I played one today, and yes, it's a mutt, but it did sound great. Very unrefined, but ideal for biker bashes/frat type gigs.....

If you gave me one, it would be on eBay in 5 minutes.

What does it sound like in the middle position?

I think it looks pretty cool in the pics. I haven't seen one in person. I'm intrigued by it.
