I played an RSA through one of their 2x12 cabinet the other day and was blown away with the 3D effect produced by the amp. How do they do that? I was facing the cabinet, but I had sounds coming from my far right and far left, not just focused center like most amps. Anyone that has played one will know what I'm talking about...truly a sonic experience like no other.

Had to be an open back cab right?

It was their open back. But I've played other open backs as well. Worth checking out if anyone gets a chance.

The RSA23 is magical and extremely dimensional through just about any cab configuration. I play mine through either a matching 2x12 loaded with Blues or a Bruno 4x12 loaded with Blues and it's a hair raising tonal experience either way. One of the best amps ever built IMHO.

I was in a local /13 dealer's shop, wishing....

played the /13 RSA23, and likewise plugged it into a 2x12 with blues and was blown away! It could do anything the RSA31 could do and then some. Sounded completely killer....so chimey, and still a great marshally sound.

then I played it through a 2x12 blue/g12h30, and some of that chime was still there, more so than the recommended cab with 2 greenbacks, but it did not match the incredible chime and great sound of the 2 blues.

highly recommended ot use this amp with at least one blue in an open back.

Yep! Absolutely agree. I've played my RSA23 through at least 7 different cab / speaker configurations and it always seems to be the ultimate match made in heaven with Celestion Alnico Blues to my ears. Again, the RSA23 will sound great through any cab but HAS to be experienced through a full compliment of Alnico Blues to be truly appreciated IMHO.

How is the gain on these amps? It was a little loud for the store I was at, so I didn't want to scare off all the customers.

I've been blown away with my new RSA23. I was a little concerned about headroom. But it is a loud 23 watts. I even did a country gig with it. It loves pedals too. Can be very Matchless to my ears sometimes. I love this amp. I chose this over the Concorde. This was thicker and more complex to my ears.
