Ok so these are something like a Celestion Cl80. I just put one in a 2x12 mixed with a governer. Sounds cool but Im not sure if they have enough bass for me. I was looking for something to add alittle of what the Governer lacks in low end while remaing tight. Both speakers are tight as all hell but I think I might want a little bigger bass.

Does anyone else have experience with the Red Ryder? Thoughts?

If it's new. make sure it's broken in. Bass and mids usually get fuller when speakers break in. There's no point in deciding on a speaker until it's sounding like itself.

Yeah its true that speakers change a bit after break in. However I think that if you dont like a speaker out of the box than you arent gonna like it when its broke in either. I can see it getting a little better.

Anyone else have experience with this speaker?

I didn't like this much at all for a while. As it continued to break in, it replaced the Texas Heat as my favorite all purpose speaker. Have you pummelled it for two weeks?

I've found the "essential" tone of the speaker is present when you first take it out of the box but if you've never heard the "breakin" process before your not going to have any idea what the speaker will sound like broken in.. So for that reason alone it's worth breaking them in.. although with some experience with speakers it's pretty easyto guess what they're going to sound like..

expect more lower mids, much wider and fuller bass and a reduction in the true high end.

I really like the Red Ryder so far. I have it mixed with a Private Jack. The sound is tight, and clear with a hint of british flavor.

A great speaker with the Governor is the Wizard...adds all the missing bass your looking for.

The Wizard sounded harsh to me and had more of a round bottom end than a tight one.

I have a 4x12 loaded with two red ryders and two celestion centurys in a "X" pattern, plenty of low end for me. Also, this speaker configuration replaced 4 1982 Celestion G-12-80's and my current setup sounds real close to the old 80's.

It took me about 1 year of high volume pummeling to break in the red ryders. They are a sweet sounding. It is very articulate, very precise. I love it! There is not too much speaker break up, just enough to give you that, "british tone." The low end is there. It is very tight, very percussive, and not flabby like the vintage 30/GB, nor, not as fat as GH30/GT75. It is right in the middle. In my opinion, it is the best eminence speaker!
