Does anyone besides me feel the need for thicker strings? I play with a pretty heavy hand, I tend to make .105s shake and buzz when I dig in. I was able to find a 'heavy' set of strings today, .110 GHS Boomers. I once had the lower 4 of a 5 string set on my Jazz tuned to E. I was in heaven! :drool

I only go with 50-105s on my basses, and 45-100 on the T-Bird.

I used to think that way, not so sure anymore. My #1 plays best with .095s, go figure

I wouldn't try this on a bass that didn't have great action and playability; my Explorer bass for example. Heavy strings on that would be like playing the Golden Gate Bridge! Is this why you put lights on your T-bird?

Really depends on what bass they are on and how the setup is.
I like a really light set on most of my basses.
Lately I have developed an appreciation for heavier strings, but only on
two of my basses, a Guild M-85 II and a Gretsch Thunder Jet.

To tell the truth- it's an attempt to get around the weird low middy thing that the T-Bird does. I don't remember how much of a difference it makes- I've been doing that for so long it's now a part of how that bass feels to me.

The neck on the T-Bird is pretty solid- it's a 9 piece laminate and it's neck through.

I'm starting to understand you GB. I put the strings on and they feel wonderful. But there's a lot of strange harmonic stuff going on, like I have really big strings wound too tight, lol! I can tell that as soon as these strings get wet they're gonna lose their tone and jut go plunkity plunk. Good thing I put them on the bass with the active EQ.

Nice ass shot of your T-bird, methanks you. I've never had the chance to play one.
