my dad said he would hook me up with a fretless bass for christmas:D and i want to be able to get the real deal so please give me some good suggestions for pick ups, strings, and so on... thanks guys

Hi Jacob,
Are you getting a upright/acoustic bass or electric fretless, etc?
That might help narrow down the suggestions.
A general idea on price would also be welcome.

I remember checking out a Yamaha fretless at a local store. It was so cool, it was so easy to play, it sounded so cool- after a month or so of checking it out every day I bought it. It was so unbelievably cool!! Until I tried playing with other people- I don't do that "fretless" thing too well...

alright sorry for the lack of info, its going to be a linear bass and alot that i have seen have been over a few thousand, so something under 2000.

HI,jacob,If i were you i'd look everywhere ( on line,Ebay,craig's list ) anywhere and everywhere for an older fender jazz frettless!!Stock fender jazz pickups.That's the real deal of the real deal's!!! OR even try out the new ones
