I'm looking for a replacement speaker for a Fender Vibro-Champ amp. I've heard good things about Weber and Jensen both, but never heard either one. I'm a BIG JBL and EV fan (all my amps use one or the other) so I like the tight clean efficient sound they produce and am looking for the same thing out of the 8" Jensen or Weber.

Anyone want to recommend something that a JBL lover would approve of? Also interested in general thoughts on Weber vs. Jensen speakers.

In an 8" speaker? No, nothing I'm aware of that would remotely resemble something a JBL or EV owner would appreciate. All you'll get is a speaker that will distort, and hopefully you can get some compression to smooth out that distortion and make it bearable. 8" guitar speakers are all about tweed type or single ended low power amps with very early breakup.

If you find something let me know.

Weber sells a high power 8" speaker in their vintage series. I think you can get them rated at 20 & 30 watts with choices of voice coils (1", 1.25" & 1.5"). From what I've read the ceramics are very efficeint and lound. If it will fit, you might want to look into one of those. Also, you can ask on the Weber speaker board and Ted might have a quick answer for you. http://www.webervst.com

Whats the most sensitive, good sounding Champ speaker out there? I want the most volume out of my 6 watts I can get, but I want a good balanced sound as well. I'm interested in the Weber Blue Pup - anybody know if there is much difference between the sensitivity of the Alnico vs Ceramic version? If they're close I'd go Alnico. Also, any word of any Eminence speakers for the Champ on the way?

Tim,

Did you get the Tone Tubby? I am torn between trying one of those and a Weber 8F125. I have a Web Sig, but I want more volume. Bottom end is great too, but afterall, it is only 8".
