Well after more than a month of waiting on my speaker (cone was backordered) it arrived today poorly packed and the cone is folded. I'm a little bit peaved.
I don't know if this issue will affect the speaker or not. It's going in a champion 600, so cosmetics aren't a factor. i'm attaching a pic- do i need to return this?
it was packed facedown on top of bubble wrap, which obviously wasn't sufficient.

That's inexcusable packaging as far as I'm concerned! There's a good chance it now may be out of alignment... I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole. Might as well see how good Weber's customer support system is! Good luck.

Call them up and email that pic - There's no excuse for shoddy packing.

I've bought a lot of speakers from Weber. Every one I've received was packed with flat cardboard protecting the cone; with several layers that fold over the frame and lock into place with tabs. The whole thing is packed into a box which is packed in a second outer box. I've never seen Weber ship a speaker with the cone exposed to packing material.

I agree. Every Weber I've gotten was packed the same way, very solid and secure.

Same here. But call Weber. They will go out of their way to make it right.

I figured this must've been somebody's first day. there's no way they ship speakers this way regularly with success. I will call them tomorrow and see what they can do.
I hope to come back with a good customer service story.

That's off the wall! I've also bought alot of speakers from Weber. Always shipped in the same heavy duty protective cardboard speaker container, just like hasserl described. Contact Ted Weber and tell him what happened. He'll fix you up. Customer satisfaction is Priority #1 with those folks!

I"ve gotten a few Weber speakers , and only one time there was a problem a few years ago...If I remember right , the voice coil was rubbing...After speaking with someone at Weber, I sent it back for repair, and got it back about a week later...Still sounds real good.

I've never once received a speaker from Weber laid on top of bubble wrap, it was always in the tri-fold box, with the locking corners. Did you order it direct from Weber, cuz that's not their usual packaging, that's for sure.
