I found one cheap to try to record bass better (I`m a guitarist) and wonder if it`s real bass player approved . The panel seems identical to the TC1140 ....pre input with 4 bands of parametric EQ.
If anyone could give me some impressions of it I might be able to make better use of it ....thanks

The TC 1144 is identical to the TC1140 - they just relabled them hoping to appeal to bass players.

It's really not designed as a preamp, just a parametric EQ. Having said that, it's probably one of the best parametrics you can buy. Very quiet, clear and musical. The bypass can be footswitched (with level matching), and the input and output levels have a huge range making it very versatile.

I use one for guitar applications and it is incredible both in the loop or out in front as a boost.

If you ever want to sell yours let me know!

Electric!

A lot of guys in the 80's and 90's used a Furman PQ3 parametric in front of their Marshalls as a gain boost and to target specific frequencies and tighten the amp up. I tried a Furman and liked the effect in certain applications, but found it was noisy and sucked tone. The TC does the same thing but better, and without the noise and tone loss.

It's also invaluable in the loop to dial in that last 5% that your amps' tone controls don't quite cover.
