As of today :D, it is my Landgraff pedal.

No such thing, IMHO. If you can't make beautiful music with a Tweed Fender, Deluxe Reverb or JCM800 and a decent old strat/tele/Les Paul/335/PRS then you probably should turn in your pic :). That said, pedals do add a lot of flexibility to the sound, I just can't imagine one pedal that does it for all amp/speaker/guitar combinations-not even a Klon, Zen, Timmy or Landgraff does it for me in all situations. I guess I'm just a gear whore...

Well one pedal I doubt I can replace with a different pedal (besides a really expensive upgraded one) would be my POG.

At the moment, my RC just makes everything sound better! Everything else can go as far as I'm concerned.

There's no pedal I can't live without. Especially if I can crank the amp a bit. But the one pedal I'd prefer not to have to live without is the Durham Sexdrive. Makes a great amp sound even better and makes it feel like you're playing a little louder than you are.

Of all the pedals I've owned, there have only been a few that really stood out among all the rest.
Zendrive, TIM, Carb and Mojovibe.

It is a toss-up between my Silver Kiss and my Lovepedal FAB 50 Angus - Low to mid-high gain, and they stack like champs!

I think it depends on your setup. A Les Paul into a tub amp or a Strat/Tele into a Fender Twin
can be a beautiful thing. However, when I start running pedals, dealing with amp noise, etc.
then this pedal is a "must have" for me...

agree that there shouldnt be one.

good guitar, good amp. you should be set. (i can say this also cos my amp has tremolo :))

my problem is, i cant have 1 pedal.
if ive got the tube zone in there, i want the cs2 next to it.
if the cc2 is in the signal, i want an echo

i would say the only one pedal i could run by itself would be the red witch medusa or maybe the rmc2 wah.

Really, my Runoffgroove/Officially Licensed Circuits stuff has become indispensable. My ROG Tonemender (a clean amplifier tone stack emulator) makes my small practice tube amp sound much bigger and "Fendery." It's on 99% of the time, no matter what else I use.

My OLC Professor Tweed is almost always on as well, and when it's not, my Supreaux is running. They really add a lot of life to an otherwise plain-jane amplifier. They're like having extra amplifiers, rather than just the usual dirt boxes. (You need to run them into an amp though - they're not intended to go direct to board).

I've had them both for 4-5 months now. I like them more every time I play.

Lately for me it's just been my TS-9...I have the drive all the way down and the level at about 130 or 2 o'clock...I pretty much always leave it on...it just sounds good.

I wish I could live with my guitar straight into my amp. But, I'm just simply not good enough to live without a solid delay pedal. :D

Perhaps this thread would be more appropriate if it were named "One Pedal that You Can't Play Without". I wish that I could live on a pedal...

Anyway, even though I don't use it all the time, I really like my vintage EH Zipper. It makes my guitar sound like it's talking, and just sounds killer with an OD after. I haven't been able to find a wah that I like yet, so I hold on to my EF "for dear life" :).

The whole "if you can't play with just a guitar and tube amp... you should just pack it up..." attitude always cracks me up. This assumes you basically play one of a few styles of music, "blues", blues rock, roots or maybe jazz. Are you going to tell Bill Frisell, Tom Morello or David Torn they can't play?

OK, nuff said about that... I wouldn't want to do without my Lovepedal Eternity. I can feel comfortable with about any setup if I have this pedal with me.

You are correct. Perhaps I was being too PERSONAL with my pedal. :D

Anyway, I have no idea what a Zipper is or its "capabilities". For wah, btw, John Landgraff makes a killer pedal and if you have the patience for it, it might be worth the wait. Now, I must get back to my pedal board as they getting too lonesome without me. :);)

I wonder if players like Robben Ford/Eric Johnson and slew of others "understand" your approach/preference in playing guitar.

Personally - it's my BBE sonic Maximizer. I haven't turned it off since I bought it 6 months ago. I have forgotten it's even there. Turning it off isn't an option. It's as much part of my "sound" as my Dr. Zs.

The old EH Zipper is an Envelope Follower. Sorry that I wasn't more clear... I guess "EF" is not a common acronym. It has a "range" knob and a "Q" knob, a switch labeled "attack", and a Bandpass/Lowpass switch at the top of the enclosure. PM me if you want to learn more about it, I'd be happy to answer questions (it's currently my favorite pedal).

It's pretty rare also... I've only seen it once on Ebay before, but it was "untested" after sitting in a dark, damp garage for a very long time (heh... that's another way to say "dead"). I was lucky enough to get mine from a relatively hidden vintage effects website in mint condition for the same price that the ebay auction ended at.

I bet that Landgraff wah is killer... to my paycheck. Haha. In all seriousness though, I'm sure that it does sound great, I just can't afford to spend that much on a pedal.

Now back to the thread! :)

Have you given a thought to the BYOC wah? You are incontrol of everything and the kit is $120 or so.

If you don't want to build it, send me a PM and we can work something out. I am just about to place a big order for parts to build about 10 pedals and it wouldn't be a big deal to order one more.

DL4 or if the gig is more dirt dependant, BOR or V-Twin, but really it's the dirt->volume pedal->DL4 minimum set that I need if I'm going to use pedals.

I'm somewhat hesitant to reply to this. I wasn't trying to be a "cord only" snob and I do love and use pedals a lot. I was just trying to say that I'm sure everyone here can and does sound good without pedals, so no one pedal is going to make or break our ability to play. To use a well worn example, Robben Ford almost always uses a Zen, but when he's plugged into his Dumble, he doesn't really need it.

As for the original question. I'm a gear whore, I can't think of a pedal I couldn't live without, or that sounds good with ALL amps and cabs, although the shelves of pedals in the music room suggest there're a LOT of pedals I don't want to live without.
