I'm in the market for a D styled amp.
I would like to ask you which could give me that Robben Ford tone on the "Talk To your Daughter" album and on "RF and the Blue Line Album"?
Since I live in Italy I don't have any chance to try out a Glaswerks,Carol-Ann,Two Rocks,Bludotone and D'lite.I should try a Fuchs, but the only shop that keep them is out of stock.
Do you think that a Fuchs ODS could suit my needs?

I have another general question about the D styled amps:since I play almost in my flat I can't crank any amp.I've read that those amps have a very good master volume and you can get very good tones at low volume. It's true for all of those amps?
So if I buy a 50 watt D styled amp it should be too much or not?

Being D*mble style amps take your pick.

I have a friend, who like me has a bad case of tone quest. He was playing through an old early 70's showman and it sounded great. He bought a Fuchs modded YBA-1 and soon after bought a Two-Rocks. Both amps sound incredible.
Next thing I know he and his tech are changing out bits and peices of each amp... Both amps sound incredible again. Next he changes out bits and peices again. Both amps still sound fantastic.
I tell him they are great sounding amps but neither sound as good as his early 70's showman. (His showman isn't stock but I don't know who did all his work)
BTW according to TGP members Joe Bonamassa just picked up some Carole Anns, but the last time I saw him he was playing a Fuchs, a Two-Rocks, a Silver Jubilee and a plexi.
John Mayer plays Two-Rocks I'm fairly sure but of all the clips I've listened to on TGP (I don't know how accurate clips really are) the Bruno Cowtipper sounded better than anything else I've heard.

The amp to get the RF tone from that era,is a Two-Rock Lo-gain Emerald Pro.

Today my choice for this would be the Pure 64 - "Nitro". Here's a clip:

Be sure to check out the D*mble clone that Doug Roccaforte has for sale in the Emporium -- I'm sure he would be happy to provide you with lots of details about the sound. Maybe even clips.

I have a Fuchs ODS 50. I would say that you can definitely get those Robben's tones with it. Never tried all the other ones in the same style, so I can't help more than that.

I tunned it to match an artist customers amp,
and it does this like it should. It's amazing.

I enjoyed playing the Fuchs the most so far, and have played several real Dumbles (it is ok to say it, don't perpetuate internet rumors by using "D" amps, D*mble, Dumb bell, etc :nono ;) ) Mind you I haven't done a side by side comparison, but it felt/sounded similar from what I remember of the originals I played.

I would love to try them all,but I would be really really lucky to try a Fuchs with a good cab.The last time I tried it over a Koch cab...
Thanks for the inputs so far.
I've seen Doug Roccaforte D'Lite for sale, but since I'm in Italy...

About the power, what could you suggest me?I remember that I play in my flat and can't crank it.
