I've got a couple of Emi Governors that cry like a baby. What's the easiest way to fix it?
Can ya just add to rubber cement or extra speaker dope to the outter ring where the cone mounts to the frame? I've got nothing to loose because the speakers are worthless right now. Tell me if I'm crazy or not?

I use Elmer's rubber cement(2.99-staples)supresses those nasty vibrations. It even comes with a brush in the cap.

Soldano HR50+, running about 50% into 2 open backed 2x12 cabs. I've got three of them that are doing it.

I had a Weber Blue Dog that did that. It went away after awhile. No clue as to why.

I used them at least one night a week for months, with my band, and they sounded fine. Then one day I noticed the cry. I kept playing them until the cry got too be bad enough that it was really noticeble. Pulled them out, put them in boxes and haven't done anything since. That was a year ago.

Haven't tried the Elmer's product but give this a try:
Get a can of DAP Weldwood -- the original stuff, not the water soluble variety. Get a small can and a 1" or 2" paintbrush suitable for use with oil-based paints/thinners/etc. Paint the entire cone with a thin, even coat of Weldwood and let it cure completely before putting back in your amp. "Thin" is the watch word here.
I learned this trick from Ted Weber to fix cone cry in a gear pager's tweed twin re-issue loaded with the Weber designed Emi's. Worked like a charm.

Anyone have a link to a sample of "cone cry?" I've always wondered what it sounds like.
