So I bought a reissue from a fellow TGP'r....changed out the speakers to blues and changed out the tubes and I'm finally getting a nice tone out of it....but....the reverb is god awful. It's been about 10 years since I've heard a nice vintage one, but I don't remember the reverb sounding like chicken dung. Anybody have the same problem.....were you able to fix it.....and how did you go about it? Thanks!

is it an AC-30CC? One of the new ones? Or is it the old 6 input job?

I am guessing a newer one since the older ones and RIs don't have reverb - only the HW, if memory serves...I know my 90s Korg reissue certainly doesn't......has trem and vib, but no reverb.

I have the AC30CC2 and while the reverb isn't 'dung,' it's not real thick. Kind of high-end zing and not real authoritative. Useable? Sure. On par with the best of Fender, definitely not.

Nope, there was reverb hidden in 2 older models (as I recall).
One was mid 60's - AC30 Super Twin Reverb, and the other was
mid 70's AC30 Top Boost Reverb (one rev pot instead one of inputs on TB channel).

Yes, it is the new RI......I think it's just 2 years old.

Assuming its the AC30CC, then you can swap the reverb tank out for an Accutronics, that made a big difference in mine. It was only $25 too. Its still no fender reverb but usable.
The other option is a reverb pedal. I have a line 6 Verbzilla on the way for my Fender Bassman.

The verb is one of the few weakness in the AC30CC's if you ask me. I already changed my tank, too. I would actually say it's not very usable. :( Another problem is that the trem doesn't go fast enough. For the money however, the non-effected tone is just so... so... tasty!!!

Was your amp built before 2006, they changed the trem to be faster? I changed out 2 resistors to speed up the trem. If you have an older one too the effects loop will rob bass response. I changed the cap out to fix that. Newer amps have these fixes in place. Mine even though I bought it in 2007, was a 2005 model.
I think you are expecting more from the reverb than I am. I just use it sparily for a touch of ambience. If you are expecting fender reverb, than I can see why you would be very disappointed.

I'd love to get details on the trem mod! I figured it wouldn't take much. Please do send me a PM if you could share some info!
As for reverb... I am picky about it and use it a good bit in general, yes. Spoiled some by my Blackface clones and Guyatone FV3000, I guess! But even as far as solid state verb goes, the 30CC verb sounds very "far away" and "disconected" to me, even at low levels. The verb on my little Vox Pathfinder is much better. As I said, though... I really dig the amp in general.

here you go!
Where did you come across this SuperTwin for sale, if you don't mind me asking?
Originally destined as an Organ amp they can be the best sounding guitar amps Vox made. Never ever saw one in England.
Best, Pete.

Let me know if you have any questions.
While you in there, I would mod the effects loop, but that is just me :)
