View Full Version : New Eventide stompboxes--is a reverb pedal in the works?

Has anybody heard if Eventide is planning on doing a reverb stompbox? I was looking at information on the TimeFactor delay and it doesn't appear to do reverb. Makes me think they will be doing a reverb pedal.

Any word on the street on this?

Their 1st release is the Timefactor Delay, then the Modfactor modulation pedal...no mention of any others.

I've been on the list for the delay for about 3 months now. They keep pushing back the release date. Wonder what's up with that. Seems like it would be too large a footprint on my pedalboard if they used this format for a reverb.

I'm sure the processor in the timefactor is fully capable of reverb with the proper algorithms so I'm hoping either eventide or some clever hackers will offer it through the usb port updates down the road.

I was told that Andy Summers and several other guitarists are road testing them and for one thing found the footswitches needed to be tougher. Now they will be. Sounds like they're trying to get it right. I'm trying to be patient myself.

Would this work for you? Just saw this yesterday.

Thanks, but I'm looking for full MIDI, which Eventide will do and TC will not.

I wish TC would make these MIDI-capable.

maybe a harmonizer next?

You might be able to get a good faux reverb sound out of the Timefactor using long delay with modulation. Short/slapback delay may also yield a passable spring reverb simulation.

The first batch has just begun shipping. They should ramp up over the next couple months, as I understand it.

I've been on the list at Sweetwater since May myself. They tell me they've got the first six and I'm #15, so we'll get there eventually....

This is from their FAQ: "Will there be a Pitch or Reverb Stompbox?
TimeFactor and ModFactor are the first Factor family members and there are no new product announcements at this time."

The way they answered sounds promising. :) Seems like they are open to the idea of adding more pedals to the line...

maybe a harmonizer next?
I asked this question specifically @ NAMM in January and was led to believe that they have one in the works. :drool

The individual I spoke with *hinted* at a summer NAMM announcement....given that's come and gone, and the delay <pun intended> they've had getting the Timefactors to market, I'd expect an announcement at NAMM in 1/08.

The actual conversation went something like this:

me: "Will you do a harmonizer next?" :D

booth guy: "I can't comment about unannounced products, but that would make sense and be a good fit in this line of products." ;)

me: "If you were to offer one of these *unannounced products*, would summer NAMM '07 be a reasonable time to *announce* it?" :p

booth guy: "That would seem to be a good time to announce a product of that type, if such a product were to be announced." ;);)

Incidentally, "booth guy" seemed sincerely excited to be able to have this non-converstion, in a "I'm pretty proud of my company and what's going on" kind of way. I think he was stoked about what's coming down the line, and was having a problem containing his excitement.

Summer NAMM has been getting smaller and less important for everyone but the promoters, or so it seems. I'd bet they (Eventide) decided to save something easy (i.e., already designed and ready for market) for this coming winter NAMM...I know several other vendors who are doing exactly that.

New products are created to increase sales [duh], and if you are having trouble filling orders currently, why make your life even more miserable by creating demand for something else you can't deliver.

I had a similar conversation. :BEER

Does anybody know how these pedals are powered, 9vdc, wallwart, internal power supply ?

i don't have the specs in front of me, but i think it's 9 volts but something like 1200ma

Sounds like a OneSpot should cover it.

ahh, that would be so cool to see a harmonizer and reverb pedal added a year from now.... oh, man...

yeah, i would totally check out a nova reverb but it needs to have presets (more than one), or at least MIDI.

hopefully eventide comes out with something along those lines

You CAN do reverb with TimeFactor. Preset 1:2 is a reverb using the Multitap algorithm. With a little tweaking you can make it very spring-reverb sounding.

The reverbs in the Timefactor are VERY adequate!

Uh.... what reverbs? You mean short delays faking a reverb? Either way, not very useful for people who want to run reverb and delay at the same time

They sound quite a bit better than short delays faking reverbs....

I'm not sure how we think digital reverb is created, but this is pretty much it...

It's the Mulittap setting and theyve made it so some of the extra knobs mash it into a reverb sound.

I'm going to A/B it with my Dynaverb.

What are you talking about though? A certain preset? Something actually named reverb on there? Explain....

The Multitap model on the Timefactor has it where the Xknob and the other knobos, like Speed and Width, control parameters that turn it into a reverb. If you tweak these controls, you can hear how it becomesd non oeverb, but its like they turn the delayed sound straight into revrb, where you cant hear the repeats, ts just a large room, and the Feedback B controls how big that eroom sound is.

Check out the Presets pdf under Bank 1:2

Real acoustic reverb actually is a large number of echoes blended together. The TimeFactor's Multitap algorithm lets you blend a multitude of individual echoes together via the SLUR and TAPER knobs. The result, just as in real life, is reverb. And it really does sound good!

dang, $400 a pedal, wouldn't take long to buy a used g-system. they do look really nice, though.
