View Full Version : Bass Amp Suggestions!

I'm a guitar player who started out playing bass, and has just recently begun to get sucked back in to the thunder. I forgot how much fun it really is!

Anyway, I'm mainly looking for a good recording combo. I'm definitely looking to spend less than $700 if possible. Most of the bands that I've noticed great bass tones with all use Ampeg, but more than likely the hi end stuff. When I first played I had a little peavey combo, maybe a 112 or something, and I loved it. But I was also using my dad's '64 Fender Jazz! :D

Basically, I want it to be great for recording, clear/defined, nice tone (subjective, I know), and possibly even loud enough for small clubs, and as cheap as possible. I'm not going to worry about tubes with the bass as I've already spent tons on guitar tube amps!

Another thread almost unanimously suggested Peavey, so uh, fill me in!

try Ashdown 300 mag and 4x10 cab. I assure you you will not be disappointed nor will thou GAS for Ampeg, Eden, PJ, etc... At most, you'll wanna upgrade to 8x10's or add a 15. Stellar gear...
