I have been searching for a Mesa Single Rectifier amp and have noticed there is a Series One and a Series Two? Is there any major difference in the two? Thanks~

There are many amp lines that Mesa makes that use a single rectifier.

Rectifier Series: Solo 50, Rectoverb

Stilletto Series: Ace

Lone Star Series: Lone Star Special has a single recto, The Lonestar Classic also has a single rectifier, but goes to silicon when you select the 100 watt setting.

Hope that helps.....:BEER

BTW I'm not sure what the differences are in the Series I and Series II in the Recto's, but from Stage I to Stage II in the Stilletto series had increased the gain and changed the transformer specs on the Stage II.

Series 1:
Channel two has 2 modes: Vintage and Modern

Series 2:
Channel 2 has 3 modes: Raw, Vintage and Modern
Plus there's a bias switch in the back to switch between 6L6 and EL34 power tubes.

Other than that, they're the same amp. Some say the Series 1 sounds better. I had a series 1 and liked it a lot, but I have never played or heard a series 2.

Series 2 Rect-o-verb owner here. From what I recall, the Series 1 had some sort of issue switching between channels and Series 2 fixed the issue. If anything, the preference for Single Recs seems to be the Series 2 versions.

Another thing to note - both the Series 1 and Series 2 are still the original 2-channel Recto design, which is generally preferred by Dual Rec and Triple Rec players.

How well does a THD Hot Plate work with the Mesa Single Rectifier?
