Are also the sound man for the band????
And if you are.....Why does it always seem to work out that way?
Gimme your opinions and views on this phenomena.

I have in the past....
and because we are generally the most intelligent in the band, and better at production.

Because that way, I can get to make sure the bass is louder than everything else, as it should be.
:)
Actually, I'm the sound engineer in my other band too, where I'm the guitarist.
Probably it's because I've also been a sound engineer, whereas none of the others in either band have. It's much easier to just do it, when you know what you're doing ;). I also don't sing, so it's no problem for me to be at the mixer for soundchecks.
I've done sound as well.
It might be that in general we pay great attention to how everyone in the band sounds and interacts.
It also could be that in general a bass rig is easier to set up than a guitar rig or a drum kit. So we are done first and can get to work on the mixer (the singer is usually to busy chatting someone up - and besides who wants only vocals in the mix ;)
Cheers,
Edward

Same situation for me. My amp often doubles as a PA stand.
