So, I posted this earlier in a different "sub-forum," so sorry if any of you notice the repeat.
I'm curious about the newly made Guild acoustic-electrics. Particularly, the GAD-40ce. I had wanted a Guild for some time, as I played one years ago that was extremely nice - good action, even better sound, pretty. I recently found out that Fender bought them out, so I'm concerned that the quality isn't there.
I'm basically looking for a sub-$1000 acoustic-electric with a cutaway. I'm not set on a Guild, but if the good folks of Gear Page think they are still built with quality, I'll probably jump for one.
So, what do you think?
Thanks in advance.

i grew up in westerly (near the old factory) and have some connections at fender ... my opinion and it is only an opinion is that the westerly guitars are safe to buy ... the california guitars are risky and i have heard about a lot of quality control issues ... the tacoma-made guitars are also safe because they are made by people that are used to making acoustics ... in my opinion anything (pet food, dumplings, guitars, computers, cars, paper clips, etc.) made in china is a crap shoot ....
i recommend you go out into the physical and touch these things .... internet pics make individual items appear fungible ... imho they are not ...

My dealer has some of the new Tacoma made Guilds. Great value IMO. I bought a F512 and it is a solid guitar.
SOme of the new Guilds have tonewoods that would command a large upgrade on some better known names.
That said, I would want to play and hear the specific guitar before buying.

I've read great things about the recent Guilds, I'm actually selling a Rhode Island D-30 right now, it's a maple guitar, and too bright for me now...I only bring up mine because I can say that they are pretty reasonably priced used...for some reason, I always seem to buy guitars that play better than they hold their value (I've got 2 G&L's, and just sold a 3rd).

The GAD series delivers pretty astonishing bang for the buck. Under $1000, it's pretty near impossible to beat.

The GAD's are amazing for the money. Great tone, playability and appointments. I just ordered a GAD-50.

I have heard that the new Tacoma-made Guilds are nice guitars but I would still search out a used Westerly-made Guild.

Been a Guild player since the mid 80's. The GADs are incredible and I've played some that were better than the Tacomas. Try them out and trust your ears and if the guitar feels right, you won't be sorry.
