I love how the 6V6's sound in my Mesa MKIV, in the Heritage Victory, and of course in an old Fender, but has anyone made a High power (relatively speaking) 6-6V6 amp. Is it possible? I've tried a /13 FTR37 and loved it as well, but it seems that there are those gigs where a 50-100 watt amp seems more appropriate.

...anything is possible, given enough TIME and MONEY.
...contact Ted Weber with the idea, he might suggest a modification of his existing 5E3x2 Deluxe Kit which uses 4x6V6.

Saw a guy named Jimmy Ripp (toured with Jagger once or twice in the 90s) playing two Victoria "Double Deluxes", which are 4x6V6s and 2x12s in a tweed Deluxe type circuit and they sounded excellent...Im thinking that adding another amp to your stage rig vs. machining a chassis for extra sockets and building OPTs to spec impedences might be easier....but you never know. I recently saw a 6xKT88 bass amp...I personally wouldnt want to deal with the extra heat..tho it is.....dry heat!O:!

I talked with a friend of mine who is always experimenting with amps and he gave me some good advice on finding the proper power and ot trannies to make this little beast work. I'll keep you posted in the upcoming months....

Old Hammond tone cabinets used two quartets of 6V6, one for bass and one for treble, but only have them set to produce about 20W per quartet. Might be a good starting point for a chassis but the transformers would have to be replaced.

I'd definitely think that getting the transformers right would be the biggest problem. Using "standard" values, you'd want an OT with a primary impedance around 2.6K. Something wound for a quad of 6L6 will get pretty close (probably around 2K), but you'd want to sit down and do the math to see how this would work out. Too, selecting a PT might be a tad tricky... first choice would be something with a final B+ around 350VDC (unless you're planning to do the old Deluxe Reverb trick and run the 6V6 at 460 or so) but with the ability to source enough current to drive your sextet without B+ dropping like a stone.

How about 6 EL84's..
Here is a picture I took showing a standard 4 EL 84 Overbuilt Clubber next to its big brother the 6 EL 84 Overbuilt Clubberer...

...interesting "adaptation" of stamped-matal cap nuts into minitature-tube retainer caps!

Heyboer makes a tranny for the train wreck clones that has the B+ and current draw I would need. We'll see....
