View Full Version : Can any mods make the new Vibrolux sound good?

Since the blackfaced Vibrolux amps are so expensive it made me wonder. Is it resonably possible to mod a new Vibrolux to make it sound like a vintage one....at least a close second?
What would need to be done and what would be an estimate of the cost?

You would be better off getting a silverface and blackfacing it the "new custom vibrolux " is a vibrolux only in name.

Get a silverface and have it gone through.

Many of the clips on my blog and myspace are silverface vibrolux amps.
You'll hear from clean to driven and they take pedals like crazy.

Don't be fooled by the little camera that doesn't show up will,
it is just the built in mike too. But what you hear is the real
deal live, not some studio clips. Yes, the amps record
great too.

Then the next question is how far do you want to go with it?
First find a good working Vibrolux Reverb amp, then
verify that it work properly we can do the following:

Cap job $150 with Premium Upgrade $80.00

Rebuild outputs sockets and input $100
Add rawness control $75.00
Add new speakers $150.00
Add new output tranny and choke $150.00
Add signal cap upgrade $150.00
Add bias balance control $75.00
Add NOS 7581a Outputs $220.
Add NOS pre amp tubes $200
Add New 6 spring reverb $65

Tone after a few months of teaking by the amp nerd.....Priceless !

Who typically loves this? Cats who've been playing all their lives
who, now, for the frist time I have helped them find their tone.
A work of art for the ears (TM).

Another one is going out the door this weekend. Same thing,
Cat is a life long musicin, hasn't found his tone in other amps
until he came across me. First with his Deluxe Reverb (Stolen)
Now with his soon to be Vibrolux Reverb!

PS - John Please don't let it go to your head that I've got NOS
tubes in this amp. They just work and sound better...just not in all amps.
