View Full Version : anyone pick up Analogman's AR20DL-XL?
Just read that A-man's working on some prototypes of his delay with extended time to 600mS. Anyone lucky enough to score one of these units? Any comments, reviews, etc...

I have a 300ms and a 600ms "Prototype." He piggybacks the BBD with flying trim pots sadwiched/soldered between the two BBDs. It sounds just as good as the 300ms. NO CLOCK NOISE WHATSOEVER. It may even have a tad more range on the repeats knob. Really I don't think you will find a better analog delay thats 9v and this small and 600ms for any price.

I've had one for a few weeks now and I love it. 200$ for a very sought after delay is killer in my book. Plus it's backed by analog man so no worries.
I use a DD3 for shorter delays and the analog man for longer stuff, volume swells and the like. Very natural and muscial sounding with a smooth decay. This is the greatest delay I've used...
But it doesn't have the crazy factors of my old SIB mr echo that has something broken inside to where you won't know if it will start feeding back on you instantly.. And of course the slam switch. Also, no tap tempo... But I've never really wanted that anyhow.
Overall one of the most excellent delays out there for sure.

Malekko might have something to say about that...

thanks everyone for the feedback so far. yeah, i've just been on a delay hunt for some time now. i've currently got an AD-900 and ML and absolutely love these pedals but I think what I'm miss or trying to "hunt" for is an old skool DM-3 (which I've owned several in the past but sold off because the delay was too short for me). But these other units I have now just don't sound the same especially since I'm very picky on the self-oscillation and love the way the DM-3 does it (I'm sure the DM-2 is similar but I've never played one so I can't comment). So when I heard that the Analogman delay could get up to 600mS I was like - alrighty! I've heard clips of the stock AR20DL oscillate and it sounds exactly like my old DM-3. Does the XL also oscillate in the same voicing? How is the delay with humbuckers? Oh, I think the price is amazing!!!!!!!!!

Does it look the same as the stock ar20dl? The reason I'm asking is I have a stock one and if I also got an XL for longer delays I didn't want to get mixed up as to which is which. Also would having two buffered pedals (even though the buffer on these is tuned perfectly) suck tone or would it even matter since they're would be at the end of the signal path?

I am pretty sure they are exactly the same except for the insides. Maybe take out the sun plate to know the difference. Or put small label with "300" or "600" on the red gap over the footswitch.

Yeah I have seen the Malekko and have read all about it at hauntingmids but it will be VERY hard to top the AR20DL-XL in my book. It really is smooth. I am a delay junkie though so I am sure I will be picking up the Malekko as well.

I'm selling mine now in the emporium. I was happy with the sound, but 300 ms just isn't enough for me. I probably would have been happier with the 600 ms model, but that was not available when I purchased mine.

I just got an email from Mike saying I got the last XL from this batch!
