I just picked one of these up. I've never played the big Pog so I don't have much to compare it to, but I really like this little guy.

First the bad news - I would say it doesn't really give you a twelve string tone at all - the octaves on the high strings prevent the guitar from getting all the chorus'y jangle that regular twelve strings produce and the octave tones are not really that guitar-like.

Now the good news - the best "turn your guitar into a bluesey organ" tone I've ever heard or played - just amazing! Using three note chords, all those Doors tunes - "Soul Kitchen", "Backdoor Man", etc... sound really cool played through this pedal. And though not a typical twelve string sound, full chords none-the-less sound amazing - like a cross between a chorused guitar and an organ.

Single notes clean on there own sound like a cross between a vibraphone and an organ.

The sub-octave is cool as well, but to be honest, I like other octave pedals better for the low stuff as this tends to sound kind of flat and not electric bass like at all.

And add some distortion with my tele with the high octave and I get amazing Purple Haze tones! (that's the third time I said "amazing" - I hope I'm not starting to sound like Huell Howser here..."do you mean to tell me that this pedal...")

Anyway, just a quick review. Would like to hear other's experiences with this or even its big brother if you get a chance.

bad 12 string? Really? damn I was ready to go on this pedal till now. Does it track single notes and chords well?

I'll bump this. Has anyone with a Micro POG put it up against the full-size POG to compare the 12 string sound? I sold my POG because it took up too much room (not to mention not being able to power it with the PP2+), and was looking into the Micro for a faux-12 string. When I put the regular POG's normal octave up against the detuned octave I felt I could live without the detuned option and still get a 12-string sound that was "good enough", so I was hoping the Micro would work for me.

It tracks chords and single notes exceptionally well, it's just the octave tone sounds much more organ/vibraphone like than guitar and twelve strings don't octave the high 3 strings, they double them so in my book and to my ears, it's not really doing a 12 string tone that we all think of when we hear the term.

have you tried mixing it with a chorus/detune pedal or a phaser?

I used to get the best organ sounds out of my POG when I used an analogman chorus instead of the "detune sliders" on the pog

I've got a feeling that the micro pog in combination with other pedals can get into the more haunting cathedral type of organ territory.

I've got both, the POG can simulate a 12 string better because of its filters, but only when you play below the 5th fret. The tracking is instantaneous on both units, in fact the word "tracking" shouldn't be used at all with them.

No but I thought about that the minute I started playing the pedal. Maybe using a uni-vibe type pedal on top of it would really put the organ thing over the top. You just gave me an idea with the detune as well - using the settings on my whammy would probably sound really cool too. Thanks for the tip.

oh heck yeah I think a uni-vibe would sound great with it. I had good results with an sweetsound and my EHX...but the best combo was the Dunlop Uni-vibe re-issue...I don't know why but the dunlop seemed to vibe really well with the octaves.

Very cool - I'll have to try it out with my friend's vibe unit. I also have revised my 12-string opinion a little. Though the octaves on the top three strings still sound off for a true 12-string, I tried playing "Over The Hills And Far Away" with the Micro Pog and it was a great tone. The organ-like quality of the pedal really gave it that kind of "Cathedral-like" tone Page uses at the end of the song.
