okay if im not mistaken pro tools can only be used with an mbox interface right? and again if im not mistaken the most xlr inputs and, ive heard a bunch of people say that its a pretty highly used program in studios, and im just wondering if they only have two inputs how would you record drums? besides with just two mics? i know its a firewire device so you could string more than one together but that would just get really really really expensive i imagine, if anyone could enlighten me on this issue id appreciate it. thanks a bunch

There are only two mic preamps on some of the interfaces you can use with Pro tools. Most of the interfaces have several more inputs without mic preamps. If you are going to use more mics, you have to use other mic preamps. You don't have to use another Digidesign Pro Tools interface to get more mic preamps.

You can't use the firepod directly into pro tools. You must have a pro tools interface between the firepod and your computer. For example, I have an M-Audio 1814 interface which is compatable with the M-Audio Pro Tools software. (If you have a Pro Tools interface and you plug the Firepod into the same computer, I don't know if Pro Tools will see the Firepod.)

I'm not familiar with Firepods so I can't comment on it except to say that it is not a pro tools interface so you can't plug your firepod into your computer and install Pro tools and use it. You must have an mbox, Digi 002 Rack, M-audio 1814 etc. or pro tools will not run. When pro tools launches, it looks for a compatable interface. If it doesn't find one, it won't run.
