It even comes with a piece of flair? COOO-elll! It could only be topped if it said "We're not in Kansas Anymore".

I never looked at it as "flair..."
That's pleasant!

does you back love you as much as the old people in the back do?

Maybe, when I get that Mesa up and running, just for giggles, I'll bring 3 cabs, and power each cab with a seperate head...
Think of the sheer awesomeness. Think of the bowel shaking thunder.
Unleashed.
(really, the Seymour head is about 35 pounds, the SWR around 20 and IIRC the Mesa around 40)

that's really not as bad as I thought it would be. My Acoustic B-3 is putting out 320W and weighs in the 40-50lbs range I'd guess...and it's solid state! I'm really looking forward to springing for one of those 5lbs Markbass heads eventually.

I've been intrigued by those things- I played two of them at GC- one through a Markbass 8x10 and also through an SWR 1x15. It sounded nice. I like that it's light, and it didn't suck. We'll see what the reliability is like in a while- but so far I haven't heard anything bad.
I prefer SS to tubes for my bass sound anyway...

I was impressed by the two Markbass amps I played also. I think of that band Stryper whenever I see one though.

I currently have this set up to run a single 18" and a 4x10 (the 2x10 has been retired to home use, or for smaller gigs when needed). I can run 3 additional stacks with this rig, for a total of 4x18" and 16x10" and 2400 watts.

Could any of you guys explain to me the popularity of these super-powered bass rigs? I'm running at 320W right now and could see moving up to 500W for the headroom...but beyond that I can't think of many reasons to move beyond 130db.

Headroom...
Too much is always better than not enough.
Plus, I play in a band with (2) 100 watt half stack and sometime ya need to put the guitards in their place! (j/k). :RoCkIn

I like the idea of 300w SS per cab. I really like the 600w- both the Seymour and the SWR sound better (to my ears) bridged than they do in mono or dual mono. Better, bigger, more full...
Personally, I think 900w is overkill. I've never had call to get the master near 12:00 on that amp.

I run my master volume around 12-1o'clock and the gain at 5...I've been thinking about getting another amp for biamping purposes...too bad my impedance (two 8 ohm cabs into a 4 ohm head) is perfect right now and changing that up would definitely change the volume output.
