I like Bellhaven, Smithwicks, Guinness and Boddingtons a good bit but of note is Southern Pecan from the Lazy Magnolia Brewery. The wife and I purchased three party pigs of the stuff. :drool

It's like the pecan pie of beers! I'd recommend that you ask your local store to get some.

My current favorite is Kona Brewing's Castaway IPA. Unfortunately, it's only available at the brew pub on tap. Fortunately, I live in Kona.

For a readily available and very consistent brew, I'll go with Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.

Also, my favorite "non-boutique" American beer of all is Yuengling Lager, from Pottstown, PA. I'm in the Midwest, so I can never have it. They don't distribute West of Pittsburgh. But for those of you in the East, try if you haven't already. Not expensive, but tastes like it should be. America's oldest registered brewery, since 1829...been brewing in the same facility since 1831...wow.

Two from our local craft brewery, Vancouver Island Brewery (http://www.vanislandbrewery.com/), are usually in my fridge - Wolf's Scottish Cream Ale and Hermann's Dark Lager. The Wolf's is a deep amber colour, nice and malty. The Hermann's is a nice full dark lager, but it doesn't nip on the end - very smooth. The other cool thing about Hermann's is that once a year around the end of October the release a batch as an ice bock - they call it the Hermannator!

From the mainland I like Shaftebury's Black and Tan and Granville Island's Amber Ale.

OK, so it's page four and I finally see some names that I'm familiar with.

Where do you guys get that exotic stuff. Apparently I'm talking to a bunch of city dwellers. Out in the country here they have some Heineken, St. Paulie Girl and Beck's. But it's always skunked because the distributer doesn't handle it properly.

So, the answer to the question is Michelob.

Sorry for the letdown after the first three pages of exotic stuff that you all are drinking.

My brother and I recently shared a 750ml of 2003 120 minute ipa and it was simply fantastic. The hops had settled down quite a bit (obviously), but I had an '06 120 last week and the hops had settled quite a bit also. I remember drinking the '06 when it first came out and it was quite the hop-bomb. Such a great beer either way.

I had a Sam Adams Imperial Pilsner Saturday night. It was good, but not great. Lots of hops and bitterness, but no balance. Much prefer DF90Min.

Bought a 6er of Shiner 98. Pretty good, and a nice break from Raison D'etre and Indian Brown. Big beer can get a little heavy at times.

Yeah, I used to have an extensive collection of glassware for my beers but my wife was sick of them and out they went. I can only have one kind of "specialized" drinking device so I went with authentic pub pint glasses. You have to pick and choose your battles, I let this one go.

On tap: Creemore Springs is my regular. Fantastic micro-brew. Yummers. Sometimes a Kilkenny or, once a year at least, a Guiness.

When not in the bar, I tend to go for Corona or Corona Lite, and change it up from time to time with mostly domestic Canadian stuff - Big Rock, Moosehead, Wellington SPA, etc. But that said, I think Sam Adams is an excellent American beer.

Jiahu is freaking awesome. Such a departure from your average craft brew.

I couldn't agree more. I may have mentioned this before in the thread, but I sampled a Jiahu that was a year old before buying all I could of this latest batch. It ages well. Very well. I may get a case and sit on it for a while. Problem is, it can't stop tappin' my stash. I have managed to keep a Red and White unopened since spring. It's for x-mas.

Y'all should get the Avery I mentioned. It's a malt bomb, but what a delish explosion.
