I have a tweed champ kit amp that I traded for awhile ago. It has never worked and I have tested everything and have come to the conclusion that the PT is fried. Are there any techs that I would be able to mail the chassis to? Who are affordable, I don’t need a MM PT, just one that works.

Or would I be better off fixing it myself?

I would go to my local shop, but they want $80 just to bring it in and the bench charge was close to that. Also, they do not usually do this in-house and have a guy who picks them up and does them in his spare time. A friend brought in a valve jr to be fixed and did not receive it back for 2 months!

I'd imagine most all of the techs you'll find here can help you (including me ;)). Drop a PM to a few and you should be able to find one you want to work with.

Geographically closer is better and within driving distance would let you get a look at what's done, that would be best.

If you are sure it's just the PT I don't see why you wouldn't do it yourself. Where in central NY are you? Did you try VooDoo amps? They're in Lansing, NY - http://voodooamps.com
