I'm looking at getting two 15 footers (one for electric rig - guitar to amp, and the other for my acoustic rig), and one 3 footer for amp to cab.

Currently have van den hul & a few others... honestly the best cable I've EVER heard or used. But, lavaman indicates that vovox sounds almost as good, is much more flexible & costs less as well. Based on the stuff I've bought from him, it's a winner.

I really hope I misinterpreted you, and that you mean you will be using a 3 foot speaker cable and not an instrument cable, because using instrument cable as speaker cable is a big no-no.

Vovox ! Great sound, light & flexible, no microphonics.
i just got a couple of vovox cables from mark at lavaman and really love them. they're well-balanced, smooth sounding, and very lightweight and flexible.
Thats right, you should only use proper speaker cable for your speakers!

HAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Of course, of course! Man, I appreciate the concern.....but, yes, yes - I DEFINITELY mean the 3 foot "SPEAKER" cable these brands offer, not instrument cable! By the way, just out of curiosity, if Mark is claiming, according to the chart on his site, that the van den Hul's still have an edge, then why are the Vovox cables 10's as well? van den Hul - 10, 10, 9......Vovox - 10, 10, 10! Must be every bit as good.........you think? I actually sent an e-mail to Mark yesterday about what I should use with my electric rig and my acoustic.......he didn't even name a van den Hul - and I said "reguardless of price"! He quoted a Vovox for guitar-to-amp, an EA Siren for amp-to-cab, and a Sommer for acoustic......why not quote all van den Hul's? Sure he could have, but he didn't! I really see this as a testimony to his customer satisfaction and honesty and effort to create return customers as well! Really cool......

Mark told me the Vovox was great for both!

I've never had a more durable cable than the Van Den Hul cable Lavaman made for me. It's been getting daily abuse for a year and a half. No microphonics or handling noise of any sort, and great tone.

Reading this thread I'm now more confused than I was before. I'll tell you the latest that I heard but I'm not sure if it will clarify or confuse. About 2 or three days ago Mark told me he hears a little compression from the VDH when using high gain where the Vovox has none. He said he thinks the VDHs still have a slightly better tone than Vovox for high gain. The Vovox are quite a bit more flexible. (So, they're both great for clean and gain and both have different strengths.) According to him, the easy winner for best sounding clean tone is the Sommer Stratos. Apparently the Stratos' highs got a bit harsh with the gain up. He implied (not stated) that with some crunch (but not real heavy gain) the Stratos would still come out on top tonewise. (all of this was news to me.)
He seems to be saying different things to different people but we don't know exactly how the questions that he responded to were phrased. Plus, as he gets to know his customers he may get a sense that they listen for different things, like different sounds, and have different gear/needs. So he might make different recommendations. So I'm giving him the benefit of a doubt even though it seems inconsistant.

It's hard to describe cables at times and I do the best I can. I try to make the best recommendation for each potential customer.
What you stated above is what I said, although personally I prefer the vdH over all cables for gain tones, The Sommer Stratos for Clean tones - the Vovox to my ears is a nice blend of both of these cables with added benefit of flexiblity.
