I wince when I see the kids getting their parents to buy them these things.
I found this clippage pitting the Hughes & Kettner against the Line 6 in a High Gain head to head comparison. Dont get me wrong, Im not blown away by the H&K, far from it, its just when I read what the Vetta cost and what claims Line 6 made about it...........I think it flat out stinks in my opinion.
The 2nd riff the tester plays on the Line 6 is just so tonally lacking that it is just not funny. Its thin, hollow and sterile sounding and if a Vetta user was playing with a 2nd guitarist, I just shudder , especially if player no 2 was using a tube amp.
What do you guys make of the Vetta in the clip ?

Only Line 6 Product I like is the GuitarPort and only to have peace at home and practice.

I had a vetta II a couple of years ago..... I got MUCH better sounds out of it than that..... But would I own another one, probably not. The Vox Valvetronix series is the way to go in modeling amp IMO, but that new Spider Valve might sound cool? I will get another modeling amp some day for low volume practicing.
I was listening to a live recording of my band from a couple of years ago and I was extrememly impressed with my tone.... I couldn't figure out what amp I was using, then I heard my singer introduce me and say "with his iMac amplifier" (that's what he called it) and I was almost ashamed for thinking it sounded good........ but it didn't sound bad at all.

C'mon, like there have never been bad clips of a tube amp. Just because an amp sounds bad in a clip doesn't mean the amp is necessarily bad. I gigged with a Vetta for over a year, it sounded great.

I owned a vetta II for maybe a year.
It gets props for versatility, but I bought it for one purpose and one purpose ONLY--
It was marketed as being the ULTIMATE DIRECT RECORDING AMP. I will say this without any regrets, and no fudging the truth:
The vetta II is not only not the ultimate direct recording amp, it is the worst direct recording amp I have ever owned... and I've recorded direct with/owned the gt-8, j-station, gnx 3000, yamaha magic stomp, TM30, etc, etc...
There is an ever present "fizziness" and high pitched overlay to the high gain sounds that simply make the amp useless for direct recording. (If you like to record music with heavy gain.)
Using a mic is another story; playing live is another story.
The vetta could produce some good sounds, certainly. But I was severely let down by the marketing hype surrounding it's recording capabilities...not to mention I never went to the line6 website to do further research-- had I done that, I would have discovered the COUNTLESS threads about "How do I get my vetta II to sound good going direct"
You know what? You can't.

I'm not a fan of Line 6 stuff, but you certainly can't judge it by that clip.
I think the H&K stuff is nice but simply going of the Tri-Amp and the Ed. Tube 20th Anni amp.
Haven't heard or played the Zen, but I hear great things about it. The price kinda scares me for a modeling amp though.

Hey, why don't I confuse everyone now...
The vetta II when programmed for it, can produce the thickest, heaviest tones of any amp I'd ever heard-- comparable to Bogner, Diezel, Ashdown, you name it. It can do the heaviest metal anyone could ever conceive of (though the bass can get a bit muddy).
But no matter how I tweaked it, it was always missing something..no need trying to convey the intangibles here.
I like some solid state; Tech 21 Trademark 30 and 60 are great amps. I also really like the tones I can get from the Vox ad120vtx. But I just couldn't get into the vetta.
Oh, and about the original question. Which clip sounds better? I think they both sound bad. Maybe one sounded better than the other if you were actually in the room.
Ah... enough negativity! Someone loves the tone, so God bless them! Hope whoever buys either of these amps loves them, and writes some great music for us all to listen to!

I'm not sure what's dumber: people buying their kids over expensive amps or people looking at a youtube video clip made by a couple of retards and then touting it like some kind of gold standard to reinforce their predisposed notions regarding the tone of an amp (ANY amp).
