Follow the link..... we should be recording my band's new cd with it in by the middle of October or early November.... this along with his vintech, api and other pres will give us a great background to find this record's sound. Actually he may be getting the 24 channel version instead of the 16.

Cool. You guys will love it. Killer EQ's and punchy preamps that work great for drums. I almost bought a 24 but went for the 16 instead. I still haven't built the desk but here's the atb.

Re: the API gear: Add a few Purple Biz preamps, some 560's to compliment the ATB EQ's and leave a few empty spaces for an 1176-ish compressor coming out really soon. Oh, and add a Great River MP-500NV for ribbon mics.
Just to give you an idea:

The eq's are what he is most excited about I think. He has lots of great pres and some really nice compressors. He was limited on the eq front and was tired of using computer based eqs. It will be used with a pro tools hd3 rig. I know he as an 1176 an la2 and a couple of distressors for comps.
I wish/hope that they might make an 8 channel version of this board as I would save up for that for my home.

I'd be surprised if that will happen. PMI also owns Joe Meek, which is supposed to be doing a small 8 channel mixer pretty soon.

I have a meekVCQ6 channel strip which I like, but it is very colored.... would a Meek board be clean enough to layer track after track?

I don't know how far along it is or if it will ever see the light of day. From what I've gathered, you'll more likely see a compact Meek mixer before seeing a 8 channel atb. I'd guess that the sound would be somewhat colored, but who knows.
