What was the guitar used to record this Eric Johnson song? Was it an OM or a D?

i'm 80% sure it was a d.... I know a song for life was done on a D and it sounds great.

Oh thanks. I think it's a great song, and that goes for A Song For Life, too. His live acoustic tone was too trebly and brittle. Song For George sounds really human and folksy, not overproduced.

good performance there.... just a little bit too much compression I think, but he's great on that cut, and he's clearly using a D. To this day I can't pick up an acoustic guitar without playing licks from a song for life to get a feel for it.

I really only have 2 tests for an acoustic guitar:

the g chord
a song for life

I think the guitar may sound more folksy because of the tuning, and may slack some of the strings so they buzz more. A 12-fret neck would also have less string tension.
