I've owned a Zon Sonus six-string with a goncalo alves top. Very nice bass- Zons hve quite a variety of pickup type and placement options though, so it's tough to give too much generalization to their sound. Most that I've heard are very, very clear and defined- hi-fi without being too sterile. The graphite neck on mine was as solid as you'd expect it to be. I'm used to a more rounded neck though, so the flattened D-shape didn't suit me too well.

Try the GOOGLE search option when you search on TGP.

Zon have a very good solid reputation.

Zon basses are among the best made anywhere. Every pro I know who has played one falls in love with it. Definitely my top pick if price isn't a big concern.

But there have been many comments on talk bass recently about poor or non-existent service, and with graphite necks FAILING...yes, surprised the h out of me...

Yes. Every pro that I know personally who has played Zon basses either loves them and owns them or loves them but can't afford them. This list is maybe around 7-10 people -- it wasn't meant to be "all pros everywhere who haven't actually played Zon." Sorry if that came out sounding wrong.:jo

I've played Zon basses and if bass were my primary instrument, the basses I would own would probably be a Zon, a Music Man, and a LightWave.
