HEY, I haven't been here in a while and when I tried to log in last night.. Didn't work.

So now that I'm in here I wanted to share a custom job I did for a buddy in our custom shop.
I already posted this on the Barber Shop forum but I figured this is the best place for bass players.

Here is a little build blog I did.. Pics aren't the best.

This looks interesting.

Okay, first let me ask about the Linden EQ because I wasn't aware of this even though I am a pedal junky. I use an Acacia Custom 4 w/EMG's through a Demeter pre-amp and a QSC 2402.

This will help me convert my very modern tone into a flip top/p- bass like tone?

The Linden pretty much makes any bass sound better... I've used it through lots of different amps at my studio and even just D/I..

The EQ design Dave used is based on the B15.. It's not going to make you sound like now your plugged into a B15... But in most cases it sounds...I guess more robust, Meaty.

I like bass to have a little hair on it when I track.. This thing is very clean and big sounding.. Put it can give a growl when you want it to..

The cool thing about it. When I use it in my studio with a 6x10 SVT cab you get a decent amount of low end from the cab.. Then when you turn this on it really feels like some one just added an extension cab. But it's doesn't make your cab fart out that low end.. It's a really great old EQ design.

Being able to add so much bottom yet having it stay really tight and the top end sound sweet in ever spot. You can go all the way bright. Which is to bright for my taste.. But you can go there and it will not sound harsh..It maybe bright but it sounds like a High end Studio EQ.. It doesn't get harsh like say a cheap little mixer EQ.

I added that Tone Press because my buddy was looking into a comp.. And he recorded with me with that same setup.. So I told him I can put that in one box to make it easy. Now we've sold 2 more.

Even though the Tone Press was say more a GTR thing... I told Dave I always track Bass with it. I usually split..Go D/I and amp but I like both the Amp and D/I to have the Tone Press lightly and the Linden.. Then I run the D/I into a usually Neve pre and mic the cab that usually is Neve as well some time EMI pre. That combo for tracking is awesome.

I have a buddy touring Europe using his Linden EQ into his Eden..Sounds awesome.

Guess I better jump here before I get yelled at..

Dave, Just hit me to the fact that it's a big no no to post new products and such..

Sorry.. I'm used to reading Gearslutz and they have a new product alert area..

So I didn't mean to break the rules.. I've just had a few people asking me about it and saying I should put something up here where Bass players visit.

So IF I need to pull it just let me know.

Thanks

Well, here's the thing.

Combined with the EMG's/Demeter/QSC rig, I use Bag End speakers including their ELF crossover into an 18" sub. I have tons of "meat", but it is of the ultra clean audiophile kind. I love my tone.

However, the fact of the matter is when I play in a cover band, that tone isn't always appropriate when playing classic rock. I am striving for that tone (think JPJ on "Good Times, Bad Times") and am hoping this pedal may be a step in the right direction.

I understand nothing will transform my rig into an instant "classic tone machine", but I am looking for something that will get me closer in that direction, without switching basses or adding a second rig.

I hear ya.... i'd say it would be.. Only cause that's style I go after.. I'm not a fan of pretty bass sounds for live or studio...

Speaking of classic stuff.. If you want take a listen to my cover band.. We did a few covers at my studio.. One being Highway Star I cut the bass for these going Linden EQ into D/I split out to my live room into a Ampeg rig..

But other then the crappy MP3 you can sort of here the bass..LOL

So, at what stage are you on this? Will it be available, even in prototype form?

Just wanted to add a +1 for the Barber Tone Press on bass. works INCREDIBLY well. The blend control lets you get just the right amount of your original attack in there...

And judging by the tone of all their guitar pedals, I can only assume that the Linden sounds incredible.

I spoke with Dave Barber for a while on the phone and he said the Linden is not intended to color the signal AT ALL. It's a very well-designed EQ, intuitive to use, with likeable frequency points, but not a fattening (AKA subtle clipping) effect. At least he said that is his intention and understanding of it. I haven't used the Linden yet myself, but I intend to try one out sometime.

The dual-pedal build looks very cool, I can dig it!
