What preamp tube is this (Vox branded) ?

Late to the party, but to add to John's reply - check the etch codes at the bottom side of the glass. There would be a nearly complete circle (bottom edge missing) with a dot in it to signify the pre-war Ei production. That was when Ei was part of the Philips conglomerate. Looke like Ei plates, for certain.

Definitely not a Mullard, but take it for what it is. Who knows, you might prefer this Ei to a Mullard anyway.
