There's been many times I have busted open a tube, but I never photographed the process.
This time, I got really mad at one tube in particular, and decided to make a pictorial out of it. My knowledge of tubes may not be encylopedic, and you may not learn anything new, but you might find this entertaining anyway:

Brought a smile to my face... I did that to a cracked 12AX7 when I was a kid with way better eyesight than I have now.

re: "...at the last page of the internet..."

...go outside and tell AL GORE that "his" internet has reached "The End."

Took the advice, went outside, HOT, Humid, Lightning, came back inside... started surfing from the beginning again. ( microsoft.com?)

the inventor, Al was unavailable for comment. (again)

I think you have a future as an author of the most successful tube amp book ever written-- putting a slightly twisted spin on pure electronics theory might be just what's needed to crack those best-seller lists......

Was that freudian or was it just a coincidence that the "victim" was a GT? I think not. It's a conspiracy to defame the the good name of boob tubes!(I still thought it was hilarious). I've never broken any apart but you know, now that I think of it, I have some "issues" with a GT in the basement!

thoughtful, entertaining, well-written, informative. way to put the quest of greater knowledge before your own health; although tubes can be quite expensive, that powdery sugary goodness inside those tubes probably isn't nose candy. NOS tubes- it almost sounds like nose... i know what you were thinking.

My health has gone down the tubes anyway.
